This is the 5th retreat I have run with Wild Tuscany and I am super excited to back in 2017. As I have, you will fall in love with this stunning place, lying under the stars at night and the abundance of rolling green hills. Get out of bad habits and notice how amazing you feel with a daily yoga practice and finally time to chill out. We get so busy in our everyday lives, we don’t have time to stop and de stress as there is so much to do. With an emphasis on turning your iPhone off this retreat allows you to disconnect to technology to be able to reconnect to yourself in this hidden treasure nestled in the hills of Tuscany. A week of yoga and relaxation with myself, Kelly, along with the option of daily excursions like hiking in enchanted forests, swimming in waterfalls and exploring the Tuscan countryside whilst indulging in the wholesome local cheese, vegetables, homemade breads, and pizza from a wood-fired oven.

As a beginner it is a great place to dedicate some time to your yoga practice and if you are experience then it’s a great opportunity to deepen your practice in a perfect location and relax into positions you may not have connected with yet.

 

 

 

 

 

FLOW OF THE DAY. . .This unique retreat begins with a special vision and goal setting in our opening session and ends with a heart-centered closing followed by a celebration of yoga, food and the friendships we have made over the week (a detailed schedule will be sent before the retreat and an ebook to take away will be sent around to help you journal and remember things that you have worked on over the week).

There will be additional yoga workshops in the day depending on students needs throughout the week.

MORNINGS – You will wake to the smell of home baked sour dough bread and of course being in Italy there is coffee in abundace. If that doesn’t wake you up the yoga is designed to, we will work on a stronger sequence in the morning, but don’t be put off, there are always options or child’s pose. The yoga will take place on the platform outside and you will struggle not to be distracted by the picturesque view. Over the week you will learn about Hatha, Vinyasa and Iyengar yoga, with adjustments and support throughout the class.

Following yoga we will enjoy an Italian vegetarian healthy farm-to-table, brunch outside on the terrace, overlooking the forest.

AFTERNOONS are entirely for you, everything on retreat is optional, this is your holiday. There will be plenty of downtime for napping in the sunshine, catching up on reading, dining on regional, vegetarian cuisine, and sipping local wines. You can relax, read, take an excursion to swim in the waterfall, hike to the monastery or explore the medieval abandoned village. At sunset we will re-convene on the yoga platform for a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga and meditation practice together with a focus on yin, yoga nidra, restorative, and meditation.

EVENINGS are pure magic, as we share our meal, family style under the stars—appreciating the simple life of sumptuous tastes, good food, music and great company! All meals on the retreat are vegetarian. The food is freshly-made, good quality wholesome home cooking. We try to use as much seasonal and local produce as possible to create a variety of both typical Italian dishes and delicious worldly creations.

Our last night will be a special evening of Klub yoga, Italian food and entertainment, more details will follow in the joining instruction, but be prepared to sparkle as we close the beautiful week together

This retreat is open to conscious beginner up to intermediate students, all classes will have variations and modifications for your body. Please bring any additional props you like to practice with.

 

 

 

 

Casalino is the name of this old farmhouse situated in an area in the east of Tuscany called the Casentino in Italy. The house is reached by an old stone road only accessible on foot or by 4WD. Casalino lies within the Foreste Casentinese National Park – an area of about 36,000 hectares of uninterrupted forest – and thanks to this the original fauna is reclaiming it’s place.  With porcupines, wild boar, roe and fallow deer and even wolves rambling the landscape, it´s easy to feel as though we are the intruders. The many footpaths leading through the Park make it easy and pleasurable to explore the environment.

One point of great importance and spiritual interest is the Sanctuary of St.Francis of Assisi – La Verna – which is just 1.5 hours walk from Casalino through an age old beach forest known as the enchanted forest.
Being so deep in the wilderness away from civilisation, Casalino very much creates a feeling of retreat from day to day life. It’s the perfect setting to immerse yourself in nature, unplug from your daily life, and reconnect with yourself.

  • One free transfer to and from Bibbiena on day of arrival and departure

YOGA WITH KELLY

Kelly is known for her fun relaxed yoga sessions. They are challenging yet light hearted. Kelly’s classes are best described as Vinyasa flow inspired with a strong focus on alignment because of her background in Iyengar. If you’re new to yoga and not quite sure what that means, the best way to explain her classes is they are designed to help you feel confident with you own self practice and discovery, because Kelly feels that is the exciting part of the journey, when you really start to learn. You will get the best technical advice, progress your practice and feel confident. Powerful sequences are designed to create a fluid practice of moving meditation, while also cultivating an awareness of alignment. We will laugh, we will challenge our self we will sometimes cry, but no matter what, we will learn a lot and go home feeling strong, flexible and relaxed.

The challenges we overcome in our yoga practice can be taken into our day to day life to overcome any difficulties.

Living Logistics…

For this retreat we offer only shared accommodation (5 max per room) and camping.

There is one indoor bathroom and toilet, and 2 outdoor compost toilets and showers.

Casalino is a very old rustic house immersed in the nature so the facilities and accommodation are of the basic quality you would expect to find at such a place. However, improvements on the house are constantly being made. Staying at Casalino is reasonably comfortable but it is not a holiday resort so you must be prepared to take care of your own needs of comfort and personal requirements. The house is not connected the electrical grid. There is only have a small solar system so therefore our electricity is very limited, but there is enough to run small devices such as mobile phones chargers etc. It is the perfect excuse to switch off from social media for the week and give your body the break it deserves.
